We caught the bus to Hanauma Bay marine nature reserve and snorkelled for about an hour. It was a wonderful experience and one worth repeating. We saw an amazing array of fish including barracuda, reef sharks, a green sea turtle and lots of colourful fish of all shapes and sizes.
On return, we had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, which as well as a huge range of cheesecake had very decent meals. After lunch, Charlotte went shopping and I hired a surfboard. Surfing at Waikiki involves a very long paddle out to the waves and one has to be careful of the reef. The waves flatten out at high tide, but the reef is more prominent in low tide making it a bit scary for someone not used to surfing around reef. I managed only one good ride.
