Day 11 - July 15 - New York

THE statue
The queue for the ferry
We visited the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island. It was a Sunday, mid-day and very crowded.

We had to wait for over one hour to board the ferry. Waiting in queues was regular occurrence.

The only satisfaction was that the queues move quickly and in a short period there were lots of people behind you.

It was a 15 minute ferry and we disembarked and walked to the best views of the figurehead for the American Dream.

An audio tour, lots of selfies and then back to the ferry to Ellis Island which was, since 1894, the immigration station.

Immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island were all steerage class, rich immigrants were processed on board with dignity. The museum was rich in stories and we had insufficient time to take them in.
