Waikiki was a great place to relax before heading back to Sydney. A laidback place and easy to get around in the local bus. Lots of great sights including the volcano and the beautiful waters teeming with colourful fish at Hanauma Bay.
Off to the airport for our last leg of the trip. The good thing about an early start on a Saturday was missing the traffic and getting a good run to LAX. At the self-serve check-in kiosk we were given the option to pay an additional $279US for a first class upgrade. We treated ourselves and enjoyed the privileges.
We got the Speedisuttle to our hotel, the Aston on Kalakaua Avenue, right opposite Prince Kuhio beach, Waikiki, O'ahu.

Our room looked east over the beach and across to Diamond Head Volcano. We wasted no time in getting into our cossies, getting our complimentary chairs from the poolside and setting up at the beach with a takeaway lunch from Wolfgang Puck.

This beach section has two back to back concrete walls which has turned it into a calm saltwater pool with lots of fish swimming around the wall area.
After a swim and lunch we returned the chairs and explored the area. We happened upon a free concert of Hawaiian hula dance, song and music along the beach and then off to the Tiki Grill and Bar on the pool level at the Aston.
Charlotte's order of honey soy buffalo chicken wings was accidentally mixed up and she was served the wings with a volcano sauce which was very spicy. The order was soon remedied and Charlotte was able to have something to eat.
